Family cycle event

A FAMILY-FRIENDLY cycle will be held near Kyle of Lochalsh at the weekend.

The joint Tartan Cycle and Spinning Wheels event will kick off at 12pm on Saturday, starting and finishing from Plockton high school and taking in the quiet roads of Balmacara.

As well as the eight-kilometre cycle, the biking theme will continue with a collection of classic bikes on display and smoothie making using the power of pedals.

Gavin Skipper, Balmacara Estate ranger, said: ‘Try out a family cycle skills course or have a go at hoopla using a bicycle tyre. For those with a competitive edge there will be an opportunity to take part in a time trial circuit. Fixed wheel bikes will be provided as competitors go head-to-head just like an individual pursuit. In each category the fastest lap is the winner. Refreshments will be available on site throughout the afternoon.’
