Sir, The crew and all the shore-based personnel at Oban lifeboat wish to thank the organisers of the Oban Sea Kayak Race for their substantia­l donation of £2,500 to the RNLI.

This event is extremely well managed and planned by a hardworkin­g committee and attracts entries from all over the UK and abroad.

The lifeboat service can only continue to provide its life-saving service at sea with the support of the general public and we are very pleased to be the beneficiar­ies of another successful Oban Sea Kayak Race day. Les Stewart, treasurer, Oban
