THE Scot­tish Ru­ral Awards of­fers the op­por­tu­nity for your ru­ral hero to achieve the recog­ni­tion they so richly de­serve.

Nom­i­na­tions for the var­i­ous cat­e­gories for 2016 opened on Mon­day, Septem­ber 21.

And a new cat­e­gory in this year’s awards of ‘Ru­ral En­ter­prise’ ef­fec­tively throws open el­i­gi­bil­ity for any en­ter­prise across ru­ral Scot­land,

Last year’s suc­cess­ful Scot­tish Ru­ral Awards process cul­mi­nated in a stun­ning awards din­ner for over 300 peo­ple at Our Dy­namic Earth in Ed­in­burgh.

The in­ter­est in the 2016 awards is such that the venue has been forced to in­crease avail­able spa­ces to more than 400. Even so, tick­ets are ex­pected to sell quickly when they go on sale, as ev­ery­one vies for a place at the most pres­ti­gious ru­ral awards in the coun­try.

The var­i­ous cat­e­gories for the 2016 awards are:

Ru­ral En­ter­prise; Busi­ness Start Up; Ru­ral Hero; Ed­u­ca­tion; Ru­ral Tourism and Hos­pi­tal­ity; Aqua­cul­ture; Busi­ness Diver­si­fi­ca­tion; Con­ser­va­tion and the En­vi­ron­ment; Agri­cul­ture; Ar­ti­san Food; Ar­ti­san Drink; and The Scot­tish Ru­ral Life­time Achieve­ment Award.

The dead­line for nom­i­na­tions is Novem­ber 20, with judg­ing to take place in the new year.
