THE rather dreich conditions did not dampen the spirits of the 43 ladies from across the country who took part in Dalmally golf club’s annual charity invitation day, nor did it greatly affect scoring.
Coming out on top with 38 stableford points and adding to her recent mixed open triumph was Wilma Frew of Glencruitten, who pipped Moyra Withycombe of Prestwick St Nicholas by a single point.
The other placings were: 3 Karen Haggerty (Dumbarton) 36pts, 4 Gina Coleman (Dumbarton) 36pts and 5 Lorna McClymont (Milngavie 35 pts.
It was a good day all round for Dumbarton golfers with Margaret Nicholson scooping the silver nearest-the-pin prize and Josephine Monaghan scoring the best outward nine holes.
Top home player was Alison Livingston on 33pts, who also scored the best inward nine, with fellow Dalmally lady, June Sutherland, taking both the bronze nearest-the-pin and the magic two prize for her birdie at the seventh hole.
