Robert re­turns to US

SCOT­TISH am­a­teur golf cham­pion, Robert MacIn­tyre, from Oban, is now back at col­lege in Amer­ica, and is the num­ber- one rated player in the In­ter­col­le­giate rank­ings.

Robert, the first ever left-handed player to win the Scot­tish am­a­teur ti­tle, took part in the Sam Hall In­ter­col­le­giate as part of the McNeese Cowboys golf team last week.

The team won the Mis­sis­sipi event by 15 strokes, set­ting a school record, three-round score of 829, which is an im­pres­sive 23 un­der- par.

Robert was placed first on the in­di­vid­ual leader­board at the Sam Hall tour­na­ment with a school record, three-round score of 199, fin­ish­ing 14 un­der- par, shoot­ing rounds of 66, 68 and 65 to win the ti­tle by three shots.

The Cowboys golf team has found it­self ranked sec­ond in the USA In­ter­col­le­giate rank­ings in the first rank­ing of the sea­son. Robert is ranked num­ber one in the in­di­vid­ual rank­ings with a 66.41 rat­ing.
