Sixth years rewarded for support

ALL LOCHABER high school sixth years have received a Saltire Challenge Award for supporting the transition of new pupils from primary to secondary school.

The school works with Voluntary Action Lochaber to recognise volunteering efforts of pupils through the award.

Support for learning teacher, Lynn MacAllister, explained: ‘The buddying support provided by our S6 pupils to primary seven children from all of our associated primary schools has been instrumental in assisting the smooth transition into a busy high school environment. A number of our new S1 pupils have additional support needs and S6 pupils have made them feel welcome and supported during their first experience of high school.’
