Is­lay man six times over limit

AN IS­LAY man, who was nearly seven times over the drink- drive limit, has been banned from driv­ing for three years.

Alis­tair Pe­ter Lear­mond’s car was stopped shortly af­ter he drove off the ferry in Oban on Septem­ber 2.

Procu­ra­tor fis­cal Eoin McGinty said po­lice re­ceived an anony­mous call that a car was be­ing driven er­rat­i­cally and po­lice of­fi­cers stopped the car af­ter see­ing it cross the white line on sev­eral oc­ca­sions.

Lear­mond, 34, of 6 Glen Road, Brid­gend, ad­mit­ted drink- driv­ing at Cor­ran Es­planade on Septem­ber 2; he had a breath-test read­ing of 142 mcg of al­co­hol in 100ml of breath. The limit is 22.

Sher­iff Ruth An­der­son QC, handed down a com­mu­nity pay­back or­der for 100 hours of un­paid work along with the three-year driv­ing ban.
