CalMac fi­nalises ferry win­ter care plans

CALMAC has fi­nalised its dry dock ar­range­ments for this year, with ves­sels moved into dif­fer­ent routes to cover the re­pair work.

All 31 ves­sels in the op­er­a­tor’s fleet are re­quired un­der Mar­itime and Coast­guard Agency reg­u­la­tions to un­der­take a pe­riod of main­te­nance ev­ery 12 months.

CalMac’s op­er­a­tions di­rec­tor, Drew Col­lier, said: ‘Ar­rang­ing dry dock for our fleet is a com­plex lo­gis­ti­cal ex­er­cise that we try and un­der­take with min­i­mal po­ten­tial dis­rup­tion to our nor­mal ser­vices.

‘ We ap­pre­ci­ate our pas­sen­gers’ pa­tience and un­der­stand­ing for the short pe­riod of time that they are not served by their nor­mal ves­sel.’

The Isle of Ar­ran re­places the MV Lord of the Isles un­til Novem­ber 11, on the Oban to Coll and Tiree route, while on the pop­u­lar Oban to Craignure route, the Isle of Ar­ran will re­place The Isle of Mull ferry from De­cem­ber 2 to 17.
