Oban council to discuss cuts
TWO public meetings organised by Argyll and Bute Parents Against Cuts and Oban Community Council will discuss the proposals to cut more than 140 council services.
The first meeting, to be held in the Corran Halls at 7pm on Wednesday November 18, will deal with cuts to classroom assistants. Another meeting focusing on all proposed cuts will be held at the church hall, Glencruitten Road at 7pm on Friday November 20.
Community councillor Kieron Green said: ‘ While it is Oban Community Council that has organised these meetings, we have decided to extend the invitation to members of the public across the Oban, Lorn and the Isles area in case some community councils have not had the opportunity to arrange similar meetings of their own.
‘At the two meetings the public will have the opportunity to put forward their views about the proposals, and we will then use these to help formulate our response to the public consultation about service choices which is currently under way.
‘ We would strongly encourage everyone, whether or not they are planning on attending the meetings to inform themselves of the proposals and respond to the consultation.’
