Three year ban for drink driver

A DRUNK driver who crashed into a car car­ry­ing two young chil­dren has been banned for three years.

Mary Mac­Don­ald of Fort Wil­liam was six and a half times over the drink drive limit when she col­lided with a car stopped at traf­fic lights in Spean Bridge on the af­ter­noon of July 27.

At Fort Wil­liam sher­iff court on Tues­day, the 42-year- old, who gave her ad­dress as care of a guest house in the town, was sen­tenced to 180 hours of un­paid work in the com­mu­nity as well as the three-year driv­ing ban.

Mac­Don­ald pleaded guilty to driv­ing with 145 mi­cro­grammes of al­co­hol in 100 millil­itres of breath and driv­ing with­out due care and at­ten­tion at a pre­vi­ous hear­ing.

Sher­iff David Young heard no­body was se­ri­ously hurt in the in­ci­dent, which oc­curred af­ter Mac­Don­ald at­tempted to drive home from her friend’s house af­ter an af­ter­noon of drink­ing.
