Glasgow to host 2019 Royal National Mòd
GLASGOW will host The Royal National Mòd in 2019 – 29 years since the festival was last held in the city.
Preparations are already under way for 2016’s Royal National Mòd, which will take place in the Western Isles.
John Morrison, chief executive of An Comunn Gàidhealach said: ‘ We’re thrilled to announce that Glasgow will host The Royal National Mòd in 2019 and we look forward to bringing our celebrations to Scotland’s biggest city. Oban has been an incredibly welcoming town and the calibre of talent competing this year has been incredible. We are excited to start our planning for The Mòd Western Isles 2016 and look forward to seeing many familiar faces there next year.’
DI Brown, chair of the Glasgow 2019 Local Organising Committee, said: ‘The Local Organising Committee (LOC) is delighted that An Comunn thought our bid was strong enough to secure the Mòd in Glasgow. The LOC believes Glasgow is an excellent location to host the Mòd and is sure it will deliver an excellent Mòd for both Mòd-goes and Glaswegians alike in 2019.’
