Cattle sale prices marginally down on year
CALEDONIAN Marts Ltd sold 616 suckled calves, store cattle and breeding OTM cattle on Tuesday October 20.
Bullock calves averaged 239p per kg, down 2p per kg on the year selling to 305p per kg from Rossal Estate, Mull and £670 for a British Blue from I McKinnon, Achadhbeag, Tobermory.
Heifers averaged 238p per kg, down 10p per kg on the year, selling to 367p per kg from Ardencaple and Scammadale on to £ 820 from the same farm.
In- calf heifers averaged £1,225, down £ 32 on the year, selling to £1,700 for a Simmental from A McNair and Son, Stroneskar, Ford.
Cows with calves averaged £1,340, selling to £1,850 for a Limousin from L Dawson, Rossal, Mull.
Bulling heifers averaged £692, selling to £980 for Simmentals from MD and SA Clarke, Williamwood, Kirtlebridge.
