This week India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a visit to Britain for high-level talks with David Cameron. An ideal opportunity then to discuss the plight of Connel father Billy Irving, who has been stranded in India since October 2013.
His partner Yvonne Machugh has appealed to Mr Cameron to raise the issue in the hope that the young family might finally be reunited this Christmas.
It beggars belief that Billy has been stuck in limbo for the last two years, unable to leave the country or work so he can pay for bed and board and our government has not pulled out all the stops to bring him home despite all charges against him being dropped in July 2014.
Let’s remind Mr Cameron of his duty of care towards Billy and his colleagues. Tweet him about raising Billy’s plight with Narendra Modi at @David_Cameron
