Mr Loch Melfort named as am­bas­sador of the year

CALUM ROSS, pro­pri­etor of the Loch Melfort Ho­tel, Oban, was cho­sen as High­lands and Is­lands Tourism Awards ( HITA) 2015 Am­bas­sador of the Year.

Mr Ross was de­scribed by the HITA board as some­one with a quiet and unas­sum­ing man­ner, but with a strong sense of lead­er­ship and great in­tegrity.

The Ninth Wave Restau­rant in Mull also en­joyed suc­cess at the awards event, be­ing voted Best Restau­rant Ex­pe­ri­ence. Opened in 2009, the restau­rant is run from a tra­di­tional croft and uses lo­cal pro­duce in­clud­ing seafood, meat, cheese and herbs - see Mull Lines page two.

The five- star Ard­torna bed and break­fast in Oban also brought home an award, win­ning Most Hos­pitable of the Year.

And the HITA Hos­pi­tal­ity Hero was named as Emma Clark from Gle­negedale House in Is­lay.

Emma and her hus­band Graeme took over the ho­tel from her par­ents in 2013 and have since won a num­ber of awards.
