School ban-ner on dog fouling

The Oban Times - - News -

A BANNER has been placed at Park Primary School in a bid to deter pet owners from allowing their dogs to defecate on the children’s playground.

Community councillor and co-founder of the group community action against dog fouling, Julie Mackenzie, revealed that the school janitor was having to clear up dog faeces from the playground on an almost daily basis.

Julie continued: ‘ We’ve lent the banner to the school and alerted the amenity warden to the issue in the hope that it will highlight awareness and hopefully result in the offenders being fined.

‘There is no excuse for people not to be picking up after their dogs in areas where children play.

‘The main concern is the obvious hazard posed to children’s health by the actions of these inconsiderate dog owners. We’d urge the residents of Dunollie to report the people who are doing this to Argyll and Bute Council.’
