Pupils a class act at business event
PUPILS from two West Highland schools had their first taste of cutting edge business at a Dragon’s Den-style event.
Teams from Mallaig and Plockton high schools attended the Highland and Moray’s Young Enterprise Scotland (YES) event on Monday November 9, pitching their product ideas to a panel of businessmen and women.
Mallaig’s ‘Wee Grow’ team were awarded £ 80 towards their plans to produce Ben Nevis-themed children’s height charts while ‘Let’s Make History’ from Plockton received £70 towards their castle building kits.
Linda Thomas, chairwoman of YES Highland and Moray, said: ‘Our dragons were particularly impressed with the enthusiasm, professional presentations and innovative product ideas from the young people taking part this year.
‘Now more than ever it can be challenging for young people to find jobs so the expert advice given by the business people on the panel is invaluable.’
CLASS ACT: The Plockton team: Daniel Goldthorpe, Ailsa James,
Sarah Nutkins, Mairi Dinan and Lilidh Berry.
