Union to vote on industrial action
TRANSPORT union members are to be balloted on whether to carry out industrial action following reported ‘defects’ on trains linking Fort William with other cities.
RMT union members working on the Caledonian Sleeper rail service which links Fort William with Glasgow and London are to vote on industrial action.
Union members say the service has been suffering from broken toilets and fire alarms, leading to delays and cancellations.
Operator Serco, which took over Caledonian Sleeper earlier this year, said it was disappointed the union was considering industrial action, and it was working to improve the sleeper service.
