McPhee signs new deal with Saxoprint-RTG
CONNEL’S John McPhee is to ride with the Saxoprint-RTG squad again in the 2016 Moto3 World Championship, the Racing Steps Foundation announced before the recent Valencia Grand Prix where the Scot finished in seventh place
The foundation is set to sign a contract for McPhee to race with the soon-to-be Peugeot Motorcycles factory squad in the 250cc lightweight class.
The team, which currently competes with Honda power, will switch to Mahindra Racing- engineered bikes in 2016 under the new arrangement with Peugeot Motorcycles.
The 21-year- old Scot, who finished 11th in the world Moto3 championship said: ‘ This year has been a tough one for me and Saxoprint-RTG as a whole.
‘But looking forwards to 2016, we have a fresh and exciting start, with new management and a new Peugeot Motorcycles-backed bike which provides us all with a terrific opportunity to show what we are made of.
‘I'm really looking forward to working closely with the Mahindra Racing and Peugeot Motorcycles people to develop the new bike.
‘Hopefully my three years spent in the world championship and the experience I've amassed over that time will prove to be of benefit.’
