Small change makes a big dif­fer­ence to Oban groups

THREE char­i­ties in Oban are among 1,000 around the UK to ben­e­fit from York­shire Build­ing So­ci­ety mem­bers’ small change.

The so­ci­ety’s char­i­ta­ble foun­da­tion has do­nated a to­tal of £100,000 to char­i­ties and good causes nom­i­nated by peo­ple dur­ing its Small Change Big Dif­fer­ence cam­paign.

Oban Se­niors Soup Group, Oban Com­mu­nity Sen­sory Gar­den and Mul­ti­ple Scle­ro­sis Ther­apy Cen­tre were among those to be given a £100 do­na­tion af­ter be­ing nom­i­nated at the Oban branch of York­shire Build­ing So­ci­ety.

The char­i­ta­ble foun­da­tion is funded through the Small Change Big Dif­fer­ence scheme where mem­bers do­nate the pen­nies from the an­nual in­ter­est on their ac­counts to help char­i­ties and good causes.

Sally Jackson, man­ager of the Oban branch of York­shire Build­ing So­ci­ety, said: ‘I’d like to say a huge thank you to ev­ery­one who came into the branch to nom­i­nate a char­ity for a do­na­tion dur­ing our Small Change Big Dif­fer­ence cam­paign.

‘At York­shire Build­ing So­ci­ety we are com­mit­ted to our com­mu­nity and I hope th­ese do­na­tions will en­able the char­i­ties to carry on their won­der­ful work here in Oban.’
