Council Tax hike not the answer to cuts

The Oban Times - - News -

Sir, David Pollard, letters, November 19, seeks to blame the Council Tax freeze for cuts to services proposed by Argyll and Bute Council.

The freeze is fully funded by the Scottish Government.

Indeed, a recent Scottish Parliament report concluded that local government is better funded than if Council Tax had increased by RPI. There is no doubt solutions to the financial problems of the council must be found.

A hike in council tax, however, is not the answer.
