Norovirus fears shut hospital wards
WARDS in two Highland hospitals had to be closed after suspected outbreaks of norovirus.
Ward one at the Belford in Fort William was closed on Wednesday last week after six patients experienced sickness and diarrheoa but reopened on Thursday after investigations found the virus wasn’t present. Ward 6C at Raigmore has been closed since Thursday after four patients tested positive for norovirus.
The Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) at the Inverness hospital was also closed from last Tuesday after two patients tested positive, but reopened on Friday following a deep clean.
