New A830 bridge opens on schedule
PROGRESS on a £10 million Road to the Isles improvement scheme continues as the second new bridge is completed.
Work on Garbh Bridge, on the Fort William to Mallaig A830, is now finished, with work on the third of the nine, the Utha Bridge, expected to end next month. Stone from the original Garbh structure has been used on the replacement bridge, designed to blend into the famous scenic surroundings.
Eddie Ross, BEAR Scotland’s north west representative, said: ‘ We are pleased to open the new A830 Garbh Bridge to traffic on schedule after months of careful construction. It provides a safe, low maintenance structure that is designed to last for 120 years.’
