A NEW app has been launched to help youngsters learn Gaelic songs.

‘Òrain na Cloinne Bige’ is free to download and features 20 songs for early years, all recorded by five talented young singers from the Western Isles.

The project is a collaboration between Pròiseact nan Ealan and Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to aid the Gaelic learning process while holding the attention of children.

Erica Morrison, creative director at Pròiseact nan Ealan, said: ‘ We are delighted to have worked in partnership with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar to produce this wonderful Gaelic app which can be enjoyed by fluent and learner Gaelic speakers. This resource will enrich the Gaelic experience for young people, especially as it is not confined to the classroom.

‘Embracing modern communication methods is essential to ensure Gaelic is used in everyday life.’

Little James Earl MacLeod enjoys the

new Gaelic music app.
