Budding Lochaber writers thrilled by author’s visit

The Oban Times - - Leisure -

BUDDING writers at Lochaber High School were thrilled when a talented author visited them in class.

Shona MacLean, author of Crucible, The Redemption of Alexander Seaton, Game of Sorrows and The Seeker, paid a visit to the advanced higher English students on November 13.

The writer spoke to the pupils about characters, setting, starting and ending a story and, most importantly, sticking to a plot. She then put on a creative writing workshop, which was a real eye opener for the teenagers.

English teacher Sharon McGonigal said: ‘ We really enjoyed Shona’s visit. We learned a lot and we’re all encouraged to read her books.’
