Re­manded in cus­tody af­ter shout­ing in Fort court­room

A WOMAN was re­manded in cus­tody on Tues­day af­ter in­ter­rupt­ing the sher­iff and her so­lic­i­tor while in the dock of Fort Wil­liam Sher­iff Court.

Mar­garet Gem­mell, known by her mid­dle name, San­dra, didn’t ar­rive in the court un­til af­ter 2pm on Tues­day, de­spite be­ing or­dered to ar­rive at 10am, to ex­plain ab­sences from her un­paid work or­der.

The 35-year- old, of Flat 4, 33 High Street, Fort Wil­liam, con­tin­u­ously in­ter­rupted Sher­iff Richard Da- vid­son and her de­fend­ing so­lic­i­tor, Clare Rus­sell, shout­ing ‘just lis­ten to me I’ll tell you the truth’ and ‘I had rea­sons’. When warned by Sher­iff David­son she would face prison if she con­tin­ued, Gem­mell be­gan wav­ing her arms and said: ‘Put me in jail, I don’t really care. I don’t care about go­ing to jail or any­thing else.’

Gem­mell was re­manded in cus­tody and could be heard con­tin­u­ing to shout at po­lice of­fi­cers and se­cu­rity staff out­side the court­room.
