Remanded in custody after shouting in Fort courtroom
A WOMAN was remanded in custody on Tuesday after interrupting the sheriff and her solicitor while in the dock of Fort William Sheriff Court.
Margaret Gemmell, known by her middle name, Sandra, didn’t arrive in the court until after 2pm on Tuesday, despite being ordered to arrive at 10am, to explain absences from her unpaid work order.
The 35-year- old, of Flat 4, 33 High Street, Fort William, continuously interrupted Sheriff Richard Da- vidson and her defending solicitor, Clare Russell, shouting ‘just listen to me I’ll tell you the truth’ and ‘I had reasons’. When warned by Sheriff Davidson she would face prison if she continued, Gemmell began waving her arms and said: ‘Put me in jail, I don’t really care. I don’t care about going to jail or anything else.’
Gemmell was remanded in custody and could be heard continuing to shout at police officers and security staff outside the courtroom.
