ST CONAN’S Kirk members had their prayers answered thanks to the generosity of an Argyll electrical engineering company and Friends of St Conan’s Kirk action group.

Following reports in The Oban Times about thefts from the building, Kenneth Ferguson from Connel decided to step in and help by fitting CCTV cameras, which were match funded by the Friends of St Conan’s Kirk, and outside lights on the building.

Last year, in three separate incidents, ornate and unique locally-styled lead from the cloister area of the church, valued at £45,000, was stolen.

A Police Scotland spokesman said they were following a definite line of enquiry into the theft of the lead.
