Her ashes will be brought ‘home’ to Oban to be scattered.

Margo was born on January 19, 1947 to Hugh and Anastasia Carmichael, formerly of Dunstaffnage and Oban.

Margo was born seven weeks prematurely, being delivered at home in Dunstaffnage by her late beloved dad, Hugh, with the aid and guidance of her late mum, Anastasia, who was a midwife.

Hugh was the eldest son of Margo’s paternal grandparents, Catherine and Hector Carmichael of Oban.

The family left Oban during 1960 to start a new life on the Earl Of Derby Estate at Knowsley Park.

Margo went on to marry and had two sons, Ian and Jeremy. Tragically her eldest son, Ian, died in 2008, aged 42.

Margo undertook her nursing training at Knowsley and St Helens NHS Trust Teaching Hospital, famous for its Burns and Plastics Unit, on Merseyside.

Father Thomas Wynne, her former parish priest from childhood at St Columba’s Cathedral, Oban, gave the family a great source of spiritual comfort over many years.

For her funeral, he wrote a lovely letter about Margo as a young child, which was read out by her sister Jean at her requiem mass.

Margo is survived by her youngest son, Jeremy, sister Jean, and brother-in-law Will.

Also her special nephew, David Carmichael, whom Margo looked after as an infant when his mother took very ill. He was like a third son to her.
