Man killed in River Garry is named
A MAN who died after falling into a Lochaber river while canoeing on Hogmanay has been named.
Petrus Janse Van Rensburg, from Buckinghamshire, got into difficulty after falling out of the boat into the River Garry, near Invergarry, at around 12.30pm.
The 36-year- old was pulled downstream and had to be airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness by the Royal Navy Search and Rescue.
His canoeing partner, an 18-year- old man, managed to guide himself to shore. He was taken by ambulance to Raigmore and was discharged the same day.
