The Oban Times - - News -

FIDDLES are being strung, pipes tuned and voices warmed up in anticipation of Fèis Mhuile next month. The fèis will take place in Bunessan from February 18-20. The extremely popular tutors’ ceilidh will kick things off on the Thursday in the Argyll Arms Hotel.

Tutors will lead classes in fiddle, guitar, pipes, chanter, drum, song, keyboard, step dancing and accordion on Friday and Saturday. Registration forms have already been distributed to all local schools.

Children from other areas are welcome to participate. They should contact organisers for a registration form.

These forms must be returned by tomorrow (Friday January 15) for entrants to be guaranteed a place.

The main fèis is open to all children aged eight to 18, but there is also a fèis bheag for younger members of the family, aged three to seven years old. Fèis bheag forms are also available.

It is also hoped to increase the adult classes this year and if anyone is interested in attending, they should contact organisers for further information.

The weekend will culminate with the Fèis Concert on Saturday afternoon, where the children will showcase what they have achieved at the weekend classes, followed by a ceilidh dance in the evening.
