Kerrera slipways work

The Oban Times - - News -

FROM Monday (January 18) until Friday February 26, a pedestrian only service will be in operation to Kerrera to allow Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL)’s contractor, George Leslie Ltd, to carry out extension works to both the Kerrera and Gallanach slipways.

The island of Kerrera is set to benefit from a significant upgrade to its ferry berths. Around £1.7 million will be invested in the construction of a new breakwater and the extension of the slipway. The project also includes an extension to the Gallanach slipway at the mainland end of the crossing.

CMAL’s Project Manager, Ruairidh Campbell, said: ‘We have undertaken extensive local consultation and have planned this closure to avoid the busy tourist and farmers market seasons. We ask that any vehicle travel to or from the island and large deliveries are made prior to start of this pedestrian only service.’
