Trust appoints project manager
A PROJECT development consultant has been appointed by Oban Communities Trust (OCT) to take plans for The Rockfield Centre forward to the next stage.
Andrew Pinkerton, a retired architect from Ayrshire, has extensive experience in community project development, most recently with the successful development of The Atlantic Islands Centre at Cullipool on Luing.
Mr Pinkerton has finalised a briefing document to progress the procurement of a design team for Oban’s new centre.
Mr Pinkerton is updating the OCT business plan and formulating a timetable of potential funding.
Gordon McNab, chairman of OCT said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to welcome Andrew onboard through the award of funding from the Architectural Heritage Fund and Highlands and Islands Enterprise.
‘Andrew’s extensive experience with community project developments is invaluable and allows us to progress our vision and take another step closer to opening the doors at the Rockfield Centre.’
Mr Pinkerton said he was hugely excited at the potential The Rockfield Centre offered.
He said: ‘ Already the use of the huts is showing the demand there is from the community for the centre.
‘I was really impressed with the turn out for the first AGM, and the feedback and enthusiasm shown by everyone for the plans.
‘This level of support and current use will undoubtedly help with our future funding applications.’
