Mary’s Meals founder in line for award
THE founder of Scottish charity Mary’s Meals, Magnus MacFarlane- Barrow, has been short-listed for a humanitarian award.
Mr MacFarlane-Barrow founded the charity in 2002 to give children in desperately poor areas of the world a hot meal during the school day. This encouraged them to go to school and ensured they had at least one decent meal a day.
Mr MacFarlane-Barrow is in the running for the 2016 Robert Burns Humanitarian Award together with Nigerian lawyer Zanna Bukar Mustapha and surgeon David Knott.
The winner will be announced at a concert at the Brig O’Doon Hotel, Alloway tonight (January 21).
