St Kilda visitor centre moves a step closer

The Oban Times - - News -

A VISITOR centre sharing the history and culture of St Kilda took a step closer to fruition this week after a leading consultancy firm was named as it developer.

Metaphor, which enjoys a worldwide reputation for developing visitor destinations and cultural projects, came through a highly competitive tendering process to win the HIE-funded brief for the proposed St Kilda Centre (Ionad Hiort) in Uig. It will now work closely with the local group, which has been taking the project forward to bring it to the point at which funding applica- tions can be made. Its team includes master-planners, designers, multi-media experts and architects.

Rachel Morris of Metaphor described the cliff-top site identified for the centre as ‘astonishing’, offering ‘a major opportunity to create a world- class centre’.
