Walk of ages: generations join play park fight

The Oban Times - - News -

MORE than 300 strollers took part in a sponsored inter-generational walk on Thursday, along the footpath between the Corran Halls and Dunollie Castle.

The mile walk was organised by Elaine Craig and Aileen Michie, of Friends of Oban Community Play Park, to raise funds towards £60,000 still needed to build the £100,000 under-fives play park.

In bright sunshine, as walkers stopped for refreshments laid on by Dunollie staff, Elaine Craig told The Oban Times there had been ‘a good turnout’.

‘It’s lovely to see young children and the older generation together,’ she added.

Many mums and grannies were joined by Oban Health Walks and Seniors Forum and pre-school and primary 1 children from Lochnell, Rockfield and Park primary schools and from Little Learners, Stramash and First Steps nurseries.

The amount raised, Ms Craig said, would become clear as it comes in from the groups, schools and parents during the coming weeks.
