THE PLOCK­TON small boat sail­ing sea­son be­gan on Satur­day June 4 with the first race for the Moore Bowl (lo­cal boats) and the first race for the Dub­hard Tro­phy (cen­tre­boards).

Only two lo­cal boats were ready. Gra­ham Sharp, Rona, fin­ished first ahead of Dou­glas Hamil­ton, Ajax.

Five boats took part in the cen­tre­board race. Re­sult: 1 Tris­tan Southall, Laser 2000; 2 Lau­ren Glas­gow, Fan­tas; 3 Ian Bul­li­vant, Laser.

Plock­ton Small Boat Sail­ing Club com­modore this year is Neil Macrae who is sec­ond of­fi­cer on Cale­do­nian MacBrayne’s Fin­lag­gan which goes from Ken­nacraig to Is­lay.

The sail­ing club was de­lighted re­cently when one of its mem­bers, Calum Reid, who has been sail­ing at Plock­ton for three years, was picked to sail for Scot­land at the Eric Twiname Cham­pi­onships at Rut­land Sail­ing Club. He sailed four races.

His best re­sult was 12th and he fin­ished 47th out of 90 Top­pers.
