Skye
A NEW project exploring five distinct landscapes in Skye is set to take place on the island in September.
The project, Land Line: Five Walks in Skye, has been specially commissioned by ATLAS Arts in collaboration with Skyebased artist Caroline Dear.
Land Line is a series of five walks over five days that will offer participants the chance to explore the local’s relationship with Skye’s unique environment.
Each walk will focus on a particular plant, and it’s connection to the setting.
Special guests Maoilios Campbell, Gaelic poet, and Professor Tim Ingold, have been invited to take part in the event.
Commenting on the project, Caroline Dear said: ‘The locations we have selected are fascinating to me on a personal level and I think they will offer the starting point for many stimulating discussions about our understanding of the landscape and the plants within it.’
ATLAS Arts producer, Shona Cameron said: ‘Part of what we do at ATLAS is about celebrating the uniqueness of Skye and with this project we are combining Caroline’s local knowledge and creativity with really interesting guests to do just that.’
The walks which will take place from the September 12-16, 2016 are open to all.
