The Oban Times - - News -

THE Oban lifeboat held a hugely successful open day at the weekend and raised more than £4,000.

The event on Saturday featured fast trips around Oban Bay, courtesy of Seafari’s RIB, which were sold out, as were the burgers and raffle tickets on offer and Merlin trike rides. The RNLI also thanked local business for their support.

The day, at Oban Lifeboat Station on the South Pier, also provided the public with a chance to step aboard the lifeboat and meet the crew.

And special guest on the day was the RNLI’s youth mascot, Stormy Stan, the lifeboat man.

Billy Forteith, Mike Robertson and Richard Home accept a cheque from Peigi Robertson in her dual capacity representing MacQueen Brothers Charitable Trust.

A highlight was a Coastguard helicopter winching crewman Harry McMaster from the deck.

Happy passengers head off in the Seafari super RIB.
