PUPILS at Tiree high school have donated hundreds of books to a charity that supports a school in rural Kenya.
After implementing a new reading scheme last year, pupils in Tiree were left with an abundance of ‘old’ books that were taking up space.
However, although they were no longer needed on the island, the pupils understood that the books were still of value.
After speaking to Free 2 Be, a charity based in South Yorkshire that helps Khaoya School in Kenya, all that was left was to find transportation.
The pupils made an appeal on social media and were very grateful to Mr Adrian Pope, who offered his services.
The books will be added to a container filled with clothing, tools and other goods that will be shipped to Kenya later this month.
