Warning over unsafe goods

The Oban Times - - News -

UNSAFE goods have been destroyed by Western Isles Council’s Trading Standards as part of a crackdown on door-to- door sellers.

Earlier this year generators and chainsaws being offered for sale by doorstep sellers in the islands were seized by police and Trading Standards in Uist and Barra.

The goods did not comply with safety regulations and, after being drained of oil products, the machinery has now been crushed. Unsafe hover boards purchased as Christmas presents from an online auction site were also destroyed.

To report doorstep sellers, contact Trading Standards on 01851822694 or police on 101.
