Young pipers’ Euro­pean suc­cess

LOCHALSH Ju­nior Pipe Band is cel­e­brat­ing suc­cess at the Euro­pean cham­pi­onships in For­res on June 25.

The young mu­si­cians were sec­ond in the Novice B cat­e­gory. The band, to­gether with Ross and Cro­marty Pipes and Drums School pipe band, who came fifth in Novice A, and City of In­ver­ness Youth Pipe Band, who fin­ished ninth in Novice B, is run as an ex­ten­sion to the work of High­land Coun­cil’s In­stru­men­tal Tuition Ser­vice.

Nor­man Bolton, High­land Coun­cil’s mu­sic de­vel­op­ment of­fi­cer said: ‘Hav­ing three bands at the Euro­peans is tes­ta­ment to the hard work of in­struc­tors and the sup­port of par­ents and mem­bers. Their suc­cesses are cer­tainly well de­served.’
