Run round Mull raises £3,500

The Oban Times - - NEWS -

A WOMAN from Mull has raised £ 3,500 by running round the island in five days.

Roz Mathews completed the 87-mile route in order to raise money for the Dervaig Sports Pitch.

She started the journey at Dervaig Primary School, where school children accompanied her on the first mile of the run.

Each day Roz was joined by local runners as well as cyclists, some on push bikes and some on electric bikes.

On the final leg of the journey, Roz was greeted by a bunch of sheep that bore the message ‘Run Roz’ on their fleeces.

At the end of run, Roz said: ‘ Well that’s it... I did it. I ran every step and thoroughly enjoyed every day.

‘Thank you so much to everyone who joined me and supported me on foot and wheels, without you all it wouldn’t have been nearly as enjoyable or entertaining. It’s been just brilliant and the support has been overwhelming.’

Roz Matthew received a cake at the end of her run round Mull.
