Appeal to back airport expansion

-

A HIGHLANDS and islands MSP is urging the Secretary of State for Transport and Secretary of State for Scotland to back plans to expand Heathrow airport in a bid to bring more passengers to the Highlands.

Labour MSP David Stewart’s letter to Patrick McLoughlin and David Mundell follows the recent reinstatement of direct British Airways flights between Inverness Airport and Heathrow.

The direct BA service, which stopped in 1997, could bring in at least 70,000 more visitors to the Highlands each year.
