Pier shop reopens after new operator is found
THE SHOP on Luss Pier has reopened after successfully finding someone to operate the premises.
The successful bidder was St Mocha – a fledgling business based in Balmaha on the other side of Loch Lomond.
There has been a small shop on the pier for more than 30 years and in 2015 Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority set out to find a new tenant.
Following a full renovation of the interior, St Mocha at Luss Pier is now open. Visitors to the shop can buy cruise and waterbus tickets for all services leaving Luss Pier, enjoy Scottish roasted coffee and homemade ice- creams and make use of the reopened toilets.
Stuart Fraser, director of St Mocha said: ‘St Mocha specialises in artisan Scottish roasted coffee and our very own Loch Lomond luxury ice- cream.
‘ We’re really excited to be opening in Luss and providing a warm welcome to visitors looking to get out on the Loch in one of the many cruises and waterbus services that leave from the pier all summer long.
‘ We’re passionate about high quality food and drink, great customer service and making sure visitors want to come back time and time again.’
The National Park Authority manages Luss Pier. Its head of visitor experience, Mairi Bell said: ‘ We were looking for a business that not only offers a great product, but who would commit to helping visitors experience the best that Luss and Loch Lomond has to offer.
‘The quality of the St Mocha product is fantastic and Stuart has worked hard to ensure his team can provide visitor information and work closely with cruise and waterbus operators to help get people out enjoying the loch.’
The shop on the pier at Luss has reopened and is also where to buy tickets for waterbus services.
