Mull bar is up for pub of the year

MULL’S MacGochans is celebrating after being shortlisted in two categories at the Scottish Bar and Pub Awards.

The Tobermory hostelry is up for bar of the year as well as the quality award at the gongs ceremony on Tuesday August 16 in Glasgow’s Hilton hotel.

Publican Neil Morrison said: ‘ We’re absolutely delighted. We won the Tennent’s quality award in 2014 and were shortlisted for Sunday Mail Pub of the Year the same year.’

Neil, who has run MacGochans for five years, said: ‘ We always try to push standards up on the island and it’s good we get recognised for the standards we have.

‘We try to promote as much local stuff as possible, including food and drink from local farms or seafood that comes straight off the boat into the pub.

‘We cater for up to 400 meals a day and keep a pristine cellar and glasses.’
