Lidl to open new store in Septem­ber

THE LIDL of the Fu­ture (LOF) su­per­mar­ket, the first of its kind in Scot­land, cur­rently be­ing built in Oban on Soroba Road, is on track for open­ing in Septem­ber.

The su­per­mar­ket is re­lo­cat­ing from its cur­rent premises on Lochavullin Drive and con­struc­tion is on sched­ule.

The com­pany is look­ing to re­cruit a fur­ther 10 em­ploy­ees in full and part-time po­si­tions to add to the ex­ist­ing pool of cur­rent staff and those al­ready re­cruited.

The su­per­mar­ket will boast state- of-the-art fa­cil­i­ties in­clud­ing a bak­ery, eight tills and 120 park­ing spa­ces.

Lidl UK’s Head of Prop­erty Gor­don Raf­ferty said: ‘We would like to thank all those who have played a part to date in bring­ing this new Lidl store to Oban.

‘It is won­der­ful for us to be able to cre­ate more jobs and in­vest­ment op­por­tu­ni­ties in the area, and we can’t wait to open the doors to this new Lidl of the Fu­ture store and serve our multi-award win­ning prod­ucts to the lo­cal com­mu­nity.’
