Dunne brothers pick up bronze medals

TWO BROTHERS from Oban have both had in­ter­na­tional suc­cess in the world of ath­let­ics.

Paddy and Fin­bar Dunne at­tended the world youth games in Gothen­burg, Swe­den, and younger brother Fin­bar picked up a bronze medal in the un­der 15s boys discus event. He was up against 30 com­peti­tors from all over the world, but in the end fel­low Scot and club mate, An­drew Boucher from In­ver­ness, won the event, earn­ing Scot­land a gold and bronze medal.

Upon re­turn­ing from Goth­ern­burg, for the sec­ond year in a row, older brother Paddy was se­lected to rep­re­sent Scot­land at an in­ter­na­tional school com­pe­ti­tion in Ash­ford in Kent.

Paddy made the jour­ney to Kent last week­end and se­cured a bronze medal for his coun­try in the un­der 17s men’s javelin event.
