Pointless to impose new speed limit

Sir, With regard to the 50mph speed limit about to be posted between Ballachulish and Fort William, I respectfully submit that it’s a waste of time, money and materials.

First, it’s going to cut down overtaking opportunities for drivers trying to pass slow-moving caravans and other vehicles.

When you overtake, you want to do it quickly so you have more time to get back to your own side of the road.

Secondly, it’s going to slow down the tourists even more, and we don’t need that.

And, thirdly, there are very few places on that particular piece of road where one can safely exceed 50 anyway, so what’s the point?
