New campaign to help children
DALMALLY- BASED charity Mary’s Meals has launched a new campaign to help children in Malawi.
The Crisis in Malawi campaign aims to ensure that the hundreds of thousands of children who receive school meals continue to do so and to reach others desperately needing help.
Malawi, where the charity’s work began, is currently facing a state of national emergency with severe food shortages caused by droughts and flooding.
Magnus MacFarlane- Barrow, the founder and chief executive of Mary’s Meals, recently visited Malawi.
He said: ‘I am appalled at the suffering of the people at the centre of this deepening crisis. There is real desperation in many rural areas but I also heard repeatedly that Mary’s Meals was their one certainty.’
