Book launch success
THE LAUNCH of Le Mùirn (‘With
Affection’), which I wrote about last week, seems to have been a great success.
Le Mùirn is a book, accompanied by an art exhibition, which documents the friendship of Margaret MacLeod of Gaelic folk trio Na h-Òganaich and Gaelic poet Murdo Macfarlane – a creative relationship that was so influential to Gaelic music. The launch took place in The Briggait, 141 Bridgegate, Glasgow, where the exhibition is now open until Sunday August 7 as part of the Merchant City Festival.
I have seen photographs of the window on the street in which a mannequin stands in a MacLeod of Lewis tartan skirt – the famous outfit worn by Margaret MacLeod – and the display looks great. Hopefully it will entice many people in to visit because the exhibition is appropriate for Gaelic speakers and non- Gaelic speakers.
It looks like a great exhibition and I hope to visit it this weekend.
