Lorne take on Garioch in first pre-season fixture

-

OBAN Lorne will take on BT Caledonia Division 2 side Garioch RFC this Saturday at Glencruitten in the green machine’s first pre-season match of 2016.

The visitors from Inverurie, just outside Aberdeen, will provide Oban Lorne with a difficult test ahead of the new season. Garioch, who are coached by former Glasgow Warriors, Doncaster Knights and Rotherham Titans professional player Stuart Corsar, finished third in Caledonia 2 last season and will be looking to challenge for the league title this campaign.

Oban Lorne coach Corrie Louw should have a strong squad to choose from for this week’s game. This is despite the likelihood of missing twins Cammy and Struan Smith due to work commitments and Lorne MacLachlan, who suffered a broken hand at last week’s training. The second row player is set to miss the first six weeks of the new season.

Confident

The men in green will be in a confident mood on Saturday as training numbers hit an almost record high of 40 players last Thursday evening. This includes 1st XV, Argyll and Bute, ladies and youth players who are all working hard to prepare for their own respective league campaigns.

Kick off time for this Saturday is still to be confirmed

The club will be launching their new website in the next few days. Please keep and eye on the their Facebook page for more details.
